On the first Wednesday of each month, Wilderness Union members visit a different climbing gym in Toronto for a night of climbing, games, and socializing. This time, we're heading to Boulderz Etobicoke, one of the largest climbing gyms in the city. Join us for an evening of bouldering and top-roping, plus some fun climbing games—the winner earns the best reward: bragging rights!
This event is suitable for everybody, from beginners to more experienced climbers.
7:00 PM: Arrive at Boulderz Climbing Center, Etobicoke. Carpools can be arranged in the Discord group
7:00 – 7:20 PM: Warm-up/climbing
7:20 – 8:20 PM: Climbing games & climbing
8:20 – 9:00 PM: Climbing & hangout
9:00 PM: Anticipated return home (but feel free to leave whenever needed)
This custom map is georeferenced, meaning it will show you where you are on the map in the right software and lays out the rough path that we’ll be following. It’s opened with the Avenza app which must be downloaded and installed in advance of the adventure.
You should also download the What3words app - this makes it easy to share and find locations in the unlikely event that you get lost.
Climbing shoes – Rentable at the gym for $8
Chalk & chalk bag – Helps with grip (optional but useful - should be available at the gym or borrow from another climber).
Comfortable athletic clothing – Stretchy and breathable
Reusable water bottle – Staying hydrated is key
Snacks – Light energy boosters (nuts, fruit, granola bars)
Tape or liquid chalk – For extra grip or if you tend to get blisters
Brush – For cleaning holds
Skin care – Hand salve or moisturizer for after climbing
Small towel – For wiping sweat or excess chalk
Boulderz has a small cafeteria and water fountains. You can also eat before or after the outing. There are many places nearby to eat too!
Shoe rentals are available at Boulderz.
None - Shaun will handle this. Check the discord for updates.
Climbing is an inherently risky activity. Participants are responsible for their own safety, and Wilderness Union assumes no liability for injuries or accidents
