Description

Crawford Lake offers a unique day out with its striking emerald green waters. This rare meromictic lake is not only still but also serves as a geological record of the Earth’s development. In winter, the lake's frozen surface provides a different perspective, making it an interesting spot all year round. An easy 6km hike that will take us around the lake on a well-maintained boardwalk.

As we walk, we’ll encounter forested areas and some rocky terrain, so be prepared for a few uneven sections along the way. We might spot local wildlife, and will pass intriguing wood carvings that tell the story of the land and its history. We’ll make our way to Rattlesnake Point, where a scenic viewpoint awaits at the end of our route.

We'll then take some time to explore the reconstructed Iroquoian village, which features replicas of Long Houses. This gives us a glimpse into the lives of the original inhabitants and is a great place to warm up during winter!
