We're learning to play disc golf!
Disc golf takes the basic principles of traditional golf and combines it with the fun of throwing a frisbee. Instead of hitting a ball into a hole, players toss a disc into a metal basket collecting points as they move around the course. Why are we interested? Because it's played outside in beautiful locations! Disc golf courses offer varying terrains and obstacles, making every round a unique experience.
We'll be joining some new friends from Queer Disc Golf for a beginner friendly charity tournament at Kelso Conservation Area. QDG are a great group of folks promoting advocacy, growth and fundraising for LGBTQ+ initiatives through Disc Golf. They'll be lending us the gear we need and giving a short lesson so we can pick it up and enter as a Wilderness Union team. We'll all be beginners so there's zero pressure!
When the tournament's done, we'll join the after party at the nearby Third Moon Brewing before heading back to Toronto.
