The Polar Vortex has hit Ontario, causing temperatures to drop and us all to feel the chill. This is the perfect time to head out on an adventure where we will snowshoe across a frozen lake and explore some of Ontario's secret spots with no one else around.
This is that time of year where you can explore the wilderness in a whole new way, finding new paths across otherwise accessible lakes and bush that has become more easy to navigate. You'll feel like you're discovering the area for the very first time.
Approximately 2.5 hours from Toronto, in a little-known area deep in the Canadian Shield, you'll get to see what the wilderness is all about. It's an incredibly diverse hike that takes us through pristine forests, along stunning rivers and lakes, until we cross a frozen lake. Last time we were there, we saw plenty of beavers, and this is one of the better locations we visit for wildlife spotting. Bears are active in the area, although they will likely be hibernating for the winter, and there are chances of moose sightings.
