April 8th is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a total solar eclipse. You won't see another one this close to us until 2099 and if you think you'll still be alive for that one, well, more power to you.
We're not missing this one! We're going to drive down into the path of Totality where, assuming the skies stay clear, the sun will be covered for over 3 minutes. Become a member and log-in to see the full details of this adventure. Eclipse glasses will be provided!
April 8th is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a total solar eclipse. You won't see another one this close to us until 2099 and if you think you'll still be alive for that one, well, more power to you. A total eclipse is truly an other-worldly experience. Everything gets eerily quiet as the sun begins to covered and you'll see a quality of light that transforms the landscape for a few minutes that will stick with you forever.
We're not missing this one! We're going to drive down to the shores of Lake Erie, into the path of Totality where, assuming the skies stay clear, the sun will be covered for over 3 minutes.
We'll drive out of town early, stopping in rural Ontario for lunch then set up for the grand event. The eclipse takes a total of 2.5 hours so we'll go for a hike that culminates with over 3 minutes of total eclipse.
We're hoping for clear skies but, worst case scenario, we'll get a hike at Big Creek National Wildlife Area which is among the best birding spots in Ontario.
We'll be providing Eclipse Glasses for all members!
This is likely to be a popular event so we're not opening up guest registration until all members have had a chance to sign-up.
There are 11 seats in the van. Once we hit capacity, we'll either switch to carpooling or attempt to secure a larger vehicle. We'll be allowing more than 18 members into this adventure so as many people as possible have an opportunity to see the eclipse.
