Would you know what to do if someone got injured in the wilderness? For those who missed the spring version of this course, we've planned another intensive 2 day course to learn the basics of remote first aid that will help you deal with the kinds of emergency health situations you hope will never happen when you're far away from help.
The course is taught by Swift Response, a Canadian Red Cross partner and is recognized by WSIB for workplace first aid requirements. By the end of it you'll receive a 3-year certification in Remote First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED from the Canadian Red Cross.
Course Summary
Basic level of Wilderness & Remote First Aid that covers material in Standard First Aid & CPR, plus special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas. The course offers strategies for providing extended care for up to 24 hours. Part of the course is taught in an outdoor setting and requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training. It's designed for people who work or live in remote locations or who are outdoor recreation enthusiasts (ie. us!).
We'll be taught by experienced Canadian Red Cross certified instructions.
Duration
20 hours with 50% taught in a non-urban setting.
